A Robot May Not Harm Humanity

or, by inaction, allow humanity to come to harm

 The Affordable Robot

Human soldiers are cheap, robot soldiers are expensive and have to be built for all sorts of hostile environments. So the early application of humanoid robots has to involve lots of reuseability and benign environments.

Hence robot prostitutes.

Face it; war consumes a lot of men and prostitution consumes a lot of women. Reducing our need for revenge and retaliation will save men’s lives.  Reducing our need for human prostitutes will save women’s lives.

You can certainly argue that we shouldn’t have prostitution.  Maybe that’s an achievable goal.  But taking the exploited women out of the business is at least a first step.

I had a bit of fun with this modest proposal for mechanizing the oldest profession -- by writing an ebook. It’s called The House of Clockwork Women.  It is fiction, science fiction, to be precise.
